I’m so excited to be sharing this recipe with you! It’s becoming one of my favourite afternoon drinks as it’s warming and so filling too. I have to start by pointing out that this recipe makes three servings of 190g each. That’s a small mug serving (the average mug size is 300g), so if you’re low carb/ ketogenic be careful when dishing it out. If you’re not low carb you can fill your mug up as much as you like, but be warned, it’s very filling and too much will be a bit sickly!

Warming, filling and creamy hot chocolate without the dairy! Top with Paleo whipped cream or marshmallows - recipes for both are linked below.
Measure out all of the ingredients. Keep the egg yolks aside until later. Combine all of the other ingredients in a sauce pan.
Place the pan over a medium heat, and gently bring to the boil.
Whilst heating, stir regularly with a whisk
Once it's reached the desired temperature, pour a small amount into a jug and add the egg yolks. Whisk the egg yolks until bubbly and then pour the mixture back into the saucepan.
Return the pan to the heat for another minute and continue to whisk gently
Divide the mixture between three cups / small mugs and enjoy.
Optionally - top with marshmallows or some whipped cream (Paleo recipes for these are listed below)
Paleo whipped cream - Against all grain
Paleo marshmallow - Super glue mom
Add in some extra cinnamon and 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper for a spicy hot chocolate
Omit the cinnamon and add in 1/2 - 1 tsp of peppermint extract for a refreshing minty hot drink
Omit the cinnamon and add in orange essence for a zingy version.
